When will this end? She has been dealing with so much on her own as her family lives in Germany.Īnd then there was Sammy. This has been harder than anything she could have imagined. I could see the pain and stress in Sammy’s mom's eyes. She is from Germany, has no family here and balancing a full time job, a seven year who is very sick with cancer and a lack of community. I could see in Sammy’s mom’s eyes the joy of feeling like there was a community surrounding her. I wish I could put into words what it felt like to be with Sammy and her mom and dad at our festival. She had us all line up for her to face paint all her customers (our team FLAMES). The amount of needles and emergencies that have completely uprooted he life for over a year and yet when you are with Sammy, she has the most incredible smile and happy approach to going with the flow and absolute make the most of every moment, joy of life.Īn aspiring entrepreneur, Sammy set up shop at the festival we had in her local park a few weeks ago. Sammy has been through an incredible long haul of often three trips per week to Dana Farber for treatment from Portsmouth, NH, everything from immediate need blood transfusions and hospitalizations for her stage four Wilms Tumor diagnosis. Meet 7-year old Sammy, our inspiration and pedal partner this year.
